Our fourth annual Festival of Sport took place at Lord Derby Academy on Thursday 13th July. It was fantastic to see all our pupils from years 7 to 10 competing all day in a variety of sport and exercise activities. Activities included athletics, football, dance, table tennis, basketball, rounders, fitness circuit training and tennis.
This event is a team competition between forms in each year group. The top five pupils in each activity earned points for their form and all pupils also earned points through their attendance for the whole week. In addition, each form had to produce their own banner to add even more colour to the event. Miss Chase and her colleagues in the Art department deserve tremendous praise for all their hard work. The banners looked amazing as you can see in the pictures below.
Our pupils displayed a fantastic attitude and teamwork throughout the day. Roll on FoS V !
Free Running at LDA Part of this year’s Festival of Sport involved a visit from two coaches from the Airborn Academy in Liverpool. Martin and James delivered excellent free running coaching sessions for a number of our Y7, 8, 9 & 10 pupils. Free running is an exciting sport involving a variety of gymnastics movements. Our pupils loved this event and over forty came back after school for further coaching. Parents, carers and pupils who want further information about this activity can go to www.airbornacademy.com
