Dear Parent/Carer,

It has been a really enjoyable week at Lord Derby Academy.  Our new Chair of Governors Mr Marshall spent the day at the school on Friday.  Mr Marshall met with the Senior Team, spoke to the whole staff and then watched the start of the Year 11 Mock English exam.  He also had a full tour of the school and spoke with our leaders of Mathematics Mrs Speer and Mr Starkey.  Mr Marshall spoke very highly of all his experiences during the visit and we are delighted to have him as our new Chair.

On Monday we welcomed Cllr Margaret Harvey and Executive Director for Children, Colette Dutton into the school.  Our visitors met with a group of pupils from across the year groups who articulately discussed their learning experiences and the progress they are making.  It was a real pleasure to hear the pupils say how proud they are of their school and I felt immensely proud to hear them represent our school community so well.

I have started to receive applications from pupils for the Pupil Parliament and I look forward to reading these letters and to making some key decisions for these crucial roles over the next fortnight.

With best wishes for the weekend.
