Students will develop their knowledge of:

  • reproduction and the roles and responsibilities of parenthood
  • antenatal care and preparation for birth
  • postnatal checks, postnatal provision and conditions for development
  • the main points to be considered when choosing: clothing and footwear, feeding, sleeping and transport equipment for babies from birth to 12 months
  • equipment and nutritional needs for children from birth to five years, including food hygiene

 

Students will develop skills in:

  • applying knowledge to construct extended writing responses for examination questions
  • compiling relevant, justified research
  • analysis of a wide range of childcare products
  • planning coursework tasks
  • communication (oracy)
  • composing a comprehensive, thorough evaluation
