LORD DERBY ACADEMY TEAMS UP WITH BLACKLOW BROW PRIMARY AND THE HUYTON UNITED RERORM CHURCH TO DONATE TO THE CHARITY

SAMARITANS PURSE—OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD 2016

Once again Operation Christmas Child has been a huge success this year with a record number of boxes, 510 in total, being donated to the appeal.  Lord Derby Academy teamed up with local primary school Blacklow Brow and also the Huyton United Reform Church to raise both awareness of the charity and to share with the pupils the story of the many children across the globe who are less fortunate.

So many families have helped in many different ways (providing items, providing shoeboxes, wrapping the shoeboxes etc) and without a doubt our pupils and parents should be very proud of the result.

The combined total of 510 boxes surpasses the excellent attempts from previous years (circa 400+ boxes) and these new boxes will be making their way to children in Africa and Eastern
Europe in time for the children to receive them for Christmas.  In addition to the shoe boxes, the schools were also able to send a donation to the charity to support their transportation.  This money was raised through fundraising and also due to a donation given to Lord Derby Academy by the Sainsburys Go Active Campaign who used the facilities at the school to film their recent advert.

This is just another example of the amazing kindness and generosity of the Huyton community!
